How effective is the BBC News web site?

The BBC have one of the most popular news sites in Britain, they report news from all over the world on many different subjects including politics, sports and information. In order to live up to the expectations of many people it is important for their web page to be effective.

I think that the BBC news page is an effective page. It is ver clear and concise and it is easy for a person who gas just clicked onto the site to find what they want to look at. Their main news stories of the day are at the top of the page with pictures to illistrate the stories. There are also links at the top of the page to other top stories.

In the left hand column there are easy links to different news coverage such as entertainment, Scottish news and a science/nature section.

There is also a link which allows you to listen to news summaries as well as video and audio links which are clearly visible. It is also possible to watch BBC News 24 through the site.

The navigation of the BBC news site is excellent with links at the top of the page to local area news, TV, Radio, Talk, which is a page where someone can share there views, and a link back to the home page. There is also an A-Z index of the site.

There is also clearly visible links to related web sites.

The design of the page makes it easy to read as well as the pictures which draw focus to the main stories. As it is a news page it is important that your attention is not taken away from the stories and that they are easy to read. This web site achieves this very well.

The page is relatively narrow, and although this could potentially be a problem I do not think that is effects the site in a ver negative way.

Overall this is a very usable site, and is very good at doing what it is meant to, deliver the news.

I am Fashion?

I am Fashion is a blog that aims to tell people in a straight forward manner what will be in fashion in the future. It claims to be by normal people for normal people, and is written by two girls in America and England.

I think that this is a successful blog and is well written for people that have an interest in fashion. It is very clear and covers a range of aspects from the fashion world. However, I would argue that this blog does not fit into an aspect of journalism.

Although it could be perceived to be similar to fashion magazines, such as Vogue or Elle, it does not in fact have the same content as these magazines.

Many fashion magazines inform readers not only what will be in fashion but also how much these items cost, as well as where they could be brought. This blog informs the reader of the opinions of the two bloggers, rather than what is on the catwalks and opinions of people in the fashion world.

Despite this I feel that this is an informative page that would be good for people who are interested in fashion, rather than people who are working in the business.

Fireworks Night

I love Fireworks. I really am so very thankful to Guy Fawkes for attempting to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Obviously it was good that he didn't though.

I really feel that fireworks are very exciting. Im almost sure that it is the only time of year that I would even consider standing outside, freezing my a**e off, and staring up at the sky. The only other time is New Year's Eve, but thats a totally different subject.
